BAILEY COFFMAN

Service Term: Lifetime

Bailey joined our Club in 2004. His favorite sports are chasing tennis balls, playing Frisbee and chasing birds (he's gotta work on the bird thing). He comes to as many meetings as he can, but he does have a lot of "outside" interests.

SHERRY SURDAM

Service Term: 2007-2008

Sherry was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and other than brief forays to other areas, she spent most of her life there until she came to OTOW, where it appears she has found her "paradise." She worked in the medical and legal fields (her favorite job was at a neurosurgeon's office), as well as a financial institution, shipping company and various manufacturing concerns. Her love for computers started many years ago when she found herself with nothing to do one day and wandered into the "computer room". She was fascinated with what was happening and asked if she could help with anything and that, as they say, was that! At one time she even did a bit of programming. Sherry shares her computer knowledge as an instructor of some of our Club classes.

JOE CASTELLUCCI

Service Term: 2007-2008

Joe spent 43 years working as a union plumber. He hails from Mamaroneck, NY, ending up in Valley Cottage, NY, before retiring to Florida. He purchased his first computer in 1993, and is currently using a Dell. He declares that he learns something new about computers every day. Joe and his lovely wife, Joan, are enthusiastic supporters of the Computer Club. He served as Secretary of the Computer Club in 2001 and 2002. Prior to that he served as a Board Member in 2000. Joe is also the Setup Chairman for the Computer Club. Joe and Joan moved to OTOW in 1999.

JOHN COFFMAN

Service Term: 2007-2008

John was a U.S. Navy veteran, comes to us from Kentucky, via Tulsa, Oklahoma. During the Korean War he was stationed at Little Creek, Virginia. After discharge, he moved to Ft. Lauderdale, where he was in the banking and insurance business until retiring in 1984. After eleven years of hunting and fishing in Minnesota, John and his wife, Shirley, moved to OTOW where he purchased his first computer. He caught the "computer bug," and claims that now it has "taken over his life." John is indispensable to the CC, because of his cheery disposition and propensity toward joke telling, and also because of his expertise in handling all matters pertaining to membership.

LINDA WARD

Service Term: 2007-2008

Linda was born in Worcester, MS. She moved to Miami, FL in 1958. She is married to the love of her life, Jim for 29 years, and has 2 children. She graduated from the Metro Dade Police Academy in 1982, served as a police officer for 10 years, and retired in 1992. Hurricane Andrew moved them to Boone NC, where they were building a home. She decided to go to work for the U.S.P.S, finally retiring for good in 2004. Then they moved back to the State of Florida to enjoy life in OTOW. Jim is enjoying life flying Radio Control Airplanes, and Linda is the VP of the LadyBirds. They also belong to the Southern Club.

BOB GALE

Service Term: 2007-2008

Bob has a degree in law enforcement, as well as a BS in Business Administration. Following a tour in the USAF, Bob became involved with some of the first word processors while with Dura Business Machines. He worked on IBM equipment for Rochester Typewriter Co., and had his own electronic repair business. Bob retired from the Madison Heights (Michigan) Police Dept. after 25 years of service, where he was administative aide to the Chief of Police. He served as project coordinator for the construction of a $2 million police facility, and was instrumental in the design and installation of new, computerized radios for the Dispatch/911 system. Bob is mainly a self-taught computer expert, and has shared his expertise as instructor of some of our Club classes. Bob and his wife, Lee, moved to OTOW in 1999.

FANNY BALDACCHINI

Service Term: 2008-2009

Fanny has been a resident of On Top of the World since 1993. She was born in Newark, NJ and moved to Kenilworth, NJ after completing her education. She has an Associate Degree as a Physician's Assistant from the New Jersey State College. She worked in Beth Israel Hospital for 14 years before becoming a Medical Research Associate for Schering-Plough Corporation for 32 years. Fanny served 2 terms on the Kenilworth Borough Council and was the Director of the Kenilworth Board of Health. Her hobbies include reading, cross-stitch and travel. Fanny also is a charter member of the OTOW Central Computer Club.

MAYBELLE BARBER

Service Term: 2008-2009

Art and Maybelle lived in Michigan until they retired. Then they spent six years traveling full time in an RV. They toured the entire United States, Canada and Alaska before moving to OTOW. They were community leaders in 4H. Maybelle worked as an inspector of large computerized auto testing equipment at Allen Test Products in Kalamazoo, MI. She also ran two business out of her home at the same time.

WALT CHILDRESS

Service Term: 2008-2009

Walt was born in Washington D.C., grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and graduated from high school in 1961. He spent the next fifty-two months in the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge he returned to Ft. Lauderdale, met Nancy, his future wife in 1967, and then spent a happy 39-years together. They moved to Roanoke, VA in 1978 (Nancys home town). Walt went to work with the city of Roanoke as an electrician and retired in 2002 as acting Supervisor of Electrical, Plumping and HVAC. After he retired they made serval trips from Virginia to Ocala to visit their daughter, son and two grand kids (all live in Ocala). One of their trips they visited OTOW. They had no intentions of moving at that time. On their trip back to VA, Walt asked Nancy if she would like to move to Ocala? She said "I think we should put the house up for sale as soon as we get home." They moved to OTOW in Sept. of 2002.

RAY CHRISTIAN

Service Term: 2008-2009

Ray and wife Doris moved to OTOW from south Florida in 2001. Ray has a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and was employed by Bell System for 16 years. Ray’s interest in computers goes back to the mid 60’s when he was with Bell Telephone Laboratories in Winston Salem, North Carolina. At that time teletype machines connected via telephone lines to a timeshared mainframe computer was fairly new and BASIC was a popular language of choice in those days. Ray started his own engine parts business in 1977 utilizing computers for inventory control and accounting. His first PC in 1982 was the old Compaq Portable (luggable) with a humongous 10 meg hard drive. Ray and Doris sold their business in 2000 and later moved to Ocala.

DON SOMMER

Service Term: 2008-2009

Don, and his wife Sara, moved to OTOW in 1998 after he retired from the JCPenney Company. He spent 32 years at Penney's and served in various Store Management and Information Systems Management positions. Don and Sara lived in Columbus, OH, Bay Shore, NY, Atlanta, GA and Plano, TX before coming to OTOW. He served as 1st Vice President of the Club in 1999 and 2000 and President from 2001 thru 2004. Don's interest in PC's goes all the way back to 1980 when they were first introduced. He has an extensive background in computer programming and training. Don has a degree in Education from the University of Dayton, and is a much sought-after Guest Speaker at other Computer Clubs in the area. Don is an excellent instructor and his classes are always well attended. He also keeps the Club's website up to date.

EILEEN UTISS

Service Term: 2008-2009

Eileen was raised in Pittsburgh, PA and lived in St. Charles, MO before moving to FL in 2005. She is married to Dave, has 3 children and 6 grandchildren. As a nurse she worked in many areas of the profession for 39 years before retirement. An avid fan of many different sports her interest also include reading, sewing, Suduko and people learning the computer.
